In recent years Twitter has boosted it’s search functions to make the job of a recruiter easier. With over 750 tweets being shared on Twitter each second, it’s important to be at the forefront of the trends in recruitment and maybe even more so for employment branding. 5 New Ways to Recruit Hire Using Twitters Improved Platform Its no secret that Ive been a fan of using Twitter for sourcing, hiring, and recruiting since I first dipped my toe into the microblogging platform in 2007.  And Ive written about how you can use Twitter for recruiting and hiring in the past.  You can connect, engage, and source for candidates and connections in real time, but now, theres even more of a reason to consider Twitter with their most recent features and updates. Twitters Enhanced Search Acting as one of the largest search engines Twitter has become the top spot for HR professionals to look for candidates to fill job vacancies. No longer does the strategy of firing off tweets work; recruiters must go into the space with a clear, concise strategy for sourcing candidates on Twitter. Twitter’s new Advanced Search  has become increasingly popular amount recruiters who are working feverishly at filing spots via Twitter recruiting. Even on the most basic level, Twitter’s Advanced Search is a powerful tool that can pull together any type of data that you’re wanting. To look at current trends, happening right now, Twitter’s new search allows you to do just that. Advanced search queries are popular among recruiters and other professionals that are looking to data specific to a topic, location, and even defined radius. If I am a recruiter wanting to find those searching for a sales job, within my city and again within 30 miles of my corporate office, that’s possible. Twitter offers a complete list of search operators that all the end user to define their search in any form or fashion. Saved searches allow a recruiter to pick up where they left off the previous day without having to redefine their search criteria and certain widgets have made it possible for recruiters to recruit more efficiently. Twitter has been able to capitalize on the recruiting industry in many different ways. From job boards to job search SEO Twitter is continuously pushing the boundaries on ways that recruiters are able to source and recruit on Twitter. Smart Search for Recruiting Like Google, Twitter has boosted its search engine to include a smarter search. Now when searching for justin biber Twitter will automatically correct your spelling to justin bieber and show you related artist or search terms. The use for this smart search in recruiting is limitless. While looking for topics that are fairly similar to what youre looking for this new smart search will help you define trends within your industry. Advanced Twitter Search Short Cuts One of my favorite enhancements is when it comes to the improved search is search shortcuts.  Since 60% of Twitter users now access Twitter  using their mobile device, the search functionality has changed taking into account our very mobile lives.  For example, if you are an employer who is searching for tweets to or from a certain corporate Twitter account especially from someone like me who tweets in rapid fire like its going out of style.  Using the short cut, from:blogging4jobs love OR hate you find any tweets from me as of recent that contain the words love or hate.  I see this being used by recruiters and employer branding pros a number of different ways especially when Im searching tweets at events, conferences, or during popular Twitter chats. Elevated Search Engine Jobs Feed On its most basic level, Twitter is a great way to distribute job postings, but understand that this is not something I consider that is actually social recruitment.  It is pure job distribution and automation which can help you elevate your job postings in search engine rankings.  SEO is important for recruiters and job postings especially since a growing number of job seekers are looking for work moving beyond job boards and looking to social media as well as search engines like Google, Bing, and Ask.com.  Since Facebooks is still not indexable by search engines, companies can take advantage of the viral and indexable nature that Twitter offers recruiters looking to distribute open positions.  Archive Search Your Tweets As I mentioned, I like to tweet.  Ive tweeted nearly 65,000 times on my main Twitter account, @blogging4jobs, but searching for past tweets was difficult if not impossible if said tweets were more than 7 or 14 days old.  Users will now have the open to search archived tweets similar to the new functionality that Facebooks social graph offers expect that with Twitter this option is only currently available to individual users and not to outsiders keeping your information relatively protected.  Keep in mind your tweets are stored in the Library of Congress in addition to the interwebs.  Users must be logged into their Twitter account and from the gear shift icon in the right hand corner selectSettings  Your Twitter Archive.  Press select and you will receive an email when your archive is available.
